ImageNorth is about great photography, and founder and owner Richard Walker has a passion for producing outstanding pictures - and on deadline too.

 

Welcome along, I am Richard, a professional photographer, with over 30 years experience working at the top end of the industry. From news, features and commercial photography, covering assignments across Yorkshire, the North of England, across the UK and beyond if required.
 

I love my job - who wouldn't!  Every day is a different adventure and challenge, out on the road in all weathers meeting many different people, some famous, but mostly normal folk!
 

Specialising in editorial, public relations, corporate and events photography. I am relied upon 24/7, to deliver top-class pictures for some of the biggest media companies, blue-chip brands and PR agencies in the UK and across the Globe - not forgetting the smaller businesses as well, that all require quality, professional imagery.

Here is my journey so far -
 

My career started as a trainee at the Hull Daily Mail, one of the country’s biggest evening newspapers. After gaining the NCTJ Photojournalism qualification and being named NCTJ Journalism Student of the Year, I became a senior photographer, and covered all manner of events for the paper . From court cases and crime stories, to royal visits and fashion shoots, rugby internationals and Wimbledon tennis - literally the whole spectrum of news and sports photography.
 

This prepared the ground for a long stint working for the UK’s biggest press agencies including PA - the Press Association. With many years of experience gained as a Senior Photographer working for our national media and international too. Lots of news and features work, and sport as well, with Premier League football and Rugby League matches being my favorites. I also worked as a Picture Editor, were at PA I worked with a top team of photographers covering assignments across the World, and also working with picture desks from the UK and globally too.

I then decided to go it alone with my vast experience and contacts, to create my own company - ImageNorth
